Waters Report for 13:00hrs Sunday 05/02/12

All the Southport Drains are open for fishing with reports coming in of Pike being caught to 8lbs on the River Crossens.{E}

River Ribble 30.1.12

Fishing has improved vastly due to the recent cold snap.
Good bags of roach,dace and chub to maggot , both float and feeder fishing working well at the moment.
Will anglers take the utmost care when driving in and out of the access road to Ribbleside Farm as the track is extremely slippy at the moment due to the recent frost.

Three Pools.

Just a few fishermen piking on Three pools and reported a couple of jacks being caught on lures to 3.5Lb, Water was coloured and the weather was wintery showers and windy.

Nobody fishing the back drain,

River Crossens

Nobody fishing the match stretch when i checked it and i am not surprised as the conditions were bad with a very cold wind and wintery showers.{P}

River Ribble 15.01.12

Fishing slow this weekend due to the drop in temperature ,small roach and dace and chub to maggot feeder. A few nice chub 5lb to 6lbs showing on Saturday. Once the fish are used to the change in temperature fishing will improve.

Upper Rivington

Roach and skimmers coming to pleasure anglers using feeder tactics with single maggot hook bait doing the business. Pike fishing remains slow with odd fish to low double figures.

Anglezarke

After all the recent heavy rain this res is full to the brim thus making access in some places difficult.
Back lane wall has produced some mixed bags of roach, perch and skimmers with the odd better bream to pleasure anglers fishing the tip with feeder tactics.
Again single maggot getting most bites.
Pikers are experiencing more blanks than good days with very few fish showing !

River Crossens, "Sluice"

The sluice was being pumped at a steady to fast pace all afternoon. The water was very coloured with a fair bit of floating weed passing on the surface. Almost impossible to hold bottom. No reports of any catches at Water Lane but SDAA Bailiff Eddie had a Jack Pike at the six fields end

Back Drain

The back drain was being pumped and only a couple of fishermen trying their luck. No reports of any catches.

Three Pools

Three pools was being pumped but nobody was fishing,

River Crossens, "Sluice"

Only one pike fisherman out in these conditions on the Sluice and he had a couple of dropped runs and was just leaving, The water levels were up by one and a half feet and the water was pumping very fast.

Back Drain

Levels are up by one and a half feet the water is very coloured and pumping through at speed, No one fishing,

Three Pools

Three Pools water levels are about one foot up and was pumping quite fast, The water was very coloured, No one was fishing

Fly Tipping

Please be aware that farmers are being targeted by fly tippers, Along the tracks and roads we use vast amounts of rubbish are being dumped, It is very expensive to remove this rubbish so please be aware and lock all gates behind you when entering or leaving S & DAA waters.

The Sluice was pumping out very fast with the water ripping through, The water levels were well down by about a foot and chocolate coloured, Wind SW 6-7{E}{P}

The back drain was pumping steadily and the water levels are slightly up, The water was chocolate coloured and no one was fishing, Wind SW 6-7{E}{P}

This is a late report from SDAA Member Mick Jennings from the 15 Nov 11, Mick was fishing smelt dead bait and had a personal best pike of 21Lb 4oz, He also had two other Pike 11Lb 6oz & 6Lb 2oz, Well done Mick and thanks for the report,{P}

Water was being pumped gently through and is down by about 8 inches and is slightly coloured, Only bits being caught to red maggot and worm, Skimmers - Roach - Ruffe & Perch, The Day Ticket stretch was very busy, there was a SSW 2-3 Breeze,{E}

The day ticket stretch was fairly busy today, There was a SSW breeze 3 to 4, The waters was clear and its level was up, Reports of Perch to 0.5Lb also Ruffe being caught and Roach to 6" or 7",                            {E}

3 anglers trying there luck with reports of good catches of Roach to 8" the water is up and very clear, One of the anglers was piking and reported he had a pike of around 4.5Lb                                                      {E}

River Crossens {Sluice} week ending 13th Nov

Roach & Skimmer Bream on red maggot and caster and bread punch,

Pike fishing has been excellent over the last few days witnessed several good sized pike up to 12Lb being caught mainly on smelt and mackerel,                       {SJ}

Three pools,week ending 13th Nov,

Three Pools Moss Lane, Good showing of Roach upto 1Lb and some good hybrids coming in with lots of Skimmer Bream, They were caught on red maggot and bread punch,

Three Pools Water Lane lots of Roach caught over the weekend again 1Lb in weight - red maggot was the bait,                                                     {SJ}
